It's a Bug's Life (Week 2)

In today's lecture we looked at texture and used multi mediums in order to create a personalized bug/ creature. When I first began to create my bug I found it hard to piece my shapes together and create a body that I liked. I really enjoyed experimenting with the crayons and textures and seeing what would be produced. At first I was not too happy with my bug, however once I added some smaller details such as eyes, legs, antennae, and gems it started to come to life and look more like a bug.

This art lesson reminded me of a box of textures that I created for my kindergarten placement. I found different textures such as felt, tissue paper, foam, pom poms, cork, cotton balls, paper, cardstock, and fake grass and I put them all in a box to create a sensory box. They really loved it and I also stuck little animals in the box so that it was like a game where they had to find the animals in their “habitats.”
